CAD M9 opinions?

Anyone here have a CAD M9 with time to share opinions?
Mine came yesterday.
Spent 30 minutes singing through it and it sounds good so far.
Running it through a Fousrite Trakmaster Pro using pre only.
Nice hi-end without excesssssssssssive sssssssssibilance. :rolleyes:
Will try to record accoustic guitar sometime this week.

SE2200A vs CAD M9?

Havent had time to do that one yet although it's coming. :rolleyes:
Based on memory the CAD may be just a bit brighter with a different sonic character than the 2200A. More later? :D

I love mine. Try using a NOS RCA or Telefunken in it. Adds quite a bit to an already great mic.

I assume the tube is socketed, in the M9, right? I have some spare NOS GE 12AV7 (5965) tubes that I'd be tempted to try in one.

I cant answer as I havent taken mine apart having only had it since Saturday but I have read of others replacing the stock 12ax7 with mullards with other tubes to reduce the sheen just a tad.
 
Vocal Track and Guitar Track

I just did a re-do on a vocal track done originally with my SE2200-A through my MPA Gold.
The CAD M9 Track via the Focusrite Trakmaster Pro will stay.
It currently sits a little brighter in the mix....
I re-did an acoustic guitar track with the CAD M9 and I believe the SE2200-A track will stay or I may blend in the M9.
Re-did a bass track running through the Trakmaster and it is much nicer. 12 oclock pre-amp level with slow comp attack, in squash mode, no make up gain needed.
 
The M9 does low end very well. Smokes on guitar cab, 2-4 ft back, bass cab, cello. I havent tried it in front of a kick, but Im sure it would be great.
