Ok... lol. I remember when someone posted a heads-up on the MXL 603S for $49.00 each... about 10 or more of us hr.com members jumped on it and I think they were all sold out in about 48hrs or so... lol. Anyway... I think a "price watch" could be very helpful and is a great idea.

We used to have something like that. I think.

The lowest i could find today through Froogle was $179 at Front End Audio.

Hopefully, mine will arrive today from Boynton. HaHa $109.99, baby!!! Suck on that!

Last week, following advice in the this thread, I sent an e-mail asking 8thstreet about their policy for shipping the phone outside of the US.

No reply whatsoever.

Then, earlier this week, I tried to order it via the web system -- probably 8 times -- but due to some crappy error in their ordering system, I got an "ASP error... some code..." whenever I clicked the "Order now" button. Tried different browsers and different routes; same problem.

So, I sent my order (now with a delivery address in the US) to 8thstreet, to the mail address listed on their web.

This was done in two different emails, from another mail account.

Again, no reply whatsoever.

So, today, upon noticing that it was no longer listing on their website, I called them, to check what had happened.

After having tried to explain my story and receving answers like "the page was probably just being cached and it was unavailable at the time of ordering" (which it clearly wasn't, since it was still listed as in stock yesterday when I checked from another account), the guy put me on hold for a couple of minutes, then came back and asked for my surname, and again gave me the same story, and also telling that they need a US credit card (which they could get if they had asked for it).

Asking why I didn't even get a simple reply on my emails, the answer was that "he had nothing to do with that".

And then they hang up.


So, I'll probably not do much business with 8thstreet another time ;-)


Oh... and don't waste your time asking for CAD M179 from them, since they don't have it any longer.

Any other places where they are still being sold? I just missed the last one from a local dealer here for low price also ;-(

That's a bummer... but, I've never had any problems with 8th Street Music... but I use their 800-878-8882 number.

It is _not_ available at 8thstreet.

I called them (from Europe) to check, and it is no longer in stock.

and it's funny how a search on a seller site's search button comes up empty, and correct, but the search engine sites have an older cache so you can still find the page's link and the page at the seller's site, but it's disabled. One of those internet things....

Yeah... don't set your hopes to high, even if all seems to be OK ;-(

Anyway, I just saw a new one for sale on eBay for 139 USD, which is 10 USD more than 8thstreet. But the shipping cost was 5-10 USD lower, so the end price is the same.

I "snatched" that one, hoping all will be well with this mic (from a music dealer). It comes with an aluminium box, it seems. There are also several more for 199 and 239 USD, but then you have to pay extra to get the aluminium box for them, so...

But maybe the story now has a happy ending for me... we'll see

I'll let you know what I think about it later.

I ordered an M179 from 8th street after I missed that $109 deal from the other place. Ordered it on tuesday and got it on friday..........no problems here but it sucks that you got the runaround.

That is correct, we've never received an M179 without the case.

Good to know -- the one I ordered comes with the box, as far as I can tell, so should be OK.

But the guys charging USD 199 for one on e-bay and then ask you to pay another USD 39 for the box are maybe not the ones to deal with then ;-)

That doesn't seem like a good deal to me at all. Plenty of places still sell them for $199 box included.

Of all the friendly people here on the list, you are the last one I figured would have plugged this shameless commercial

But you're actually right; I forgot about that in my frustration of not getting the mic from 8thstreet. Might have checked with Warren if I had remembered this before searching ebay. I will next time I need some stuff from the US of A.
