Sir Cool of Coronado
okay, I have a question here. I hope this can be done. I have some snakes that are unbalanced. But upon further inspection, I unscrewed the shaft of the plug, I noticed that there is another wire in there which is soldered to the negative, so that makes two wires on the negative terminal (3 wires total including the positive). Could I just replace the plugs with balanced TRS or XLR plugs to make this a balanced snake?

Sorry is this was confusing. But thanks to anynone who could answer this.

ametth,

Yeah, you should be able to change the plugs from 1/4" to XLR or TRS without any problems, although soldering the plugs is a pain in the butt - I never seem to be able to get it right. You might want to make sure that you don't have any shorts b/w the unused centre line and the hot line.

ametth,
If you have any problems or questions, feel free to email me. I just got done doing a butt load of connectors. It is not as bad as it seems if you have the right tools.
Good luck and have fun!
