I was on the Sonar BBS and came across this for anyone who may be interested. It is a bit compressed and pitch corrected, but the vocal track was pretty clean, and all done on a C1.

Go to the last song...In My Room. It is all A Cappella and easy to hear...no download problems. No comparisons, no tests, just vocal tracks. Give it a try.

Since I've got two C1's I tried to be objective but I could only think of Yerta a girl from Finland I knew then.

A "bit" pitch corrected?

Sheesh!
A pack of well-trained Rottweilers could have sounded as good with all that e-help! :D

I told you it was corrected, and compressed, but the track is clean. That was my only point in this thread. It is not a test or comparison, just a clean track.

I think it sounds pretty good Alan and all I have to say about auto tune is that the people who complain about it have obviously never heard me sing!!:D:D

ps:ordered my TB-1!:D

Yeah... it's really clean.

I just felt the need to add the gratuitous "bad joke" to the thread. :D

and what exactly is the point of this thread?......

Absolutely none Gidge...should there be? I was just on another thread that posted it, so I in turn posted it. In either case, your questions are always welcome.

Yes, it is compressed, and pitched, but I thought it was a very "clean" track, so I said..."Here is a very clean track".

OK... a newbie question for you all with "experienced" ears. How did you know it was pitch corrected? What gives it away? I could hear the compression on it. Sounds really squashed to me, but I would never have guessed it was pitch corrected. Yet one more thing to learn...

Which, by the way, I have lurked around these forums for a few months now, and the wealth of information found on these boards is staggering. I have learned a lot and am currently getting my modest tiny, little bedroom studio up and running.

Thanks all!!!

Brutus,

I'm not as experienced as some of these dudes but I can help you a bit here.

First, listen to the SOLO guy....the first syllables in every verse. Listen to the attack and modulation in his voice. Try to imagine a guys face singing that way....it never comes to mind. He sounds like a robot.

Now even though the rest of the voices sound lush and beautiful, try to pick each one out and listen for the same thing....suddenly sounds different, doesnt it?

Hope this helps.

Alan, thanks for link.;)

No problem. It is doctored, but I thought it was very clean which was why I put it there. :D

thanks for the reply. I went back to listen to the track again, and could pretty much hear what you were talking about. Lifeless, and no attack. Although I would have never figured that out on my own. I would have thought it was from being so compressed. Thanks for the tip...

and alan

I had run across this song on another forum (possibly posted by you in ref to the C-1) and I agree to my noob ears, it was nice and clean. But what do I know?

thanks again

It's OK. I've heard better and worse. The singing is a little robotic. I don't blame the pitch correction and compression or the mic for any shortcomings. It's more of a lifeless performance than anything.

Alan, I have country rock song that uses a C1. My website is coming on line in the next month and it'll be posted there. I'll send you the link when the site is up.

It's funny how in the original thread no one mentioned pitch correction, not even the dude that recorded it.He did mention flanging and chorus and I wonder if those effect mimicked the artifacts that we associate with auto tune.

Alright now I am so confused....I just don't know what to think.
