Bypassing Pres on a Firewire 410

I am thinking about purchasing a Sytek MPX-4aii and running it into a M-Audio Firewire 410. The sytek only has xlr outs, however. Is there a way to bypass the pres on the 410 using XLRs? Should I just use some high quality XLR to 1/4" cables to patch the sytek into the line inputs on the 410? Any other ideas?

Sorry to hijack... I'm in a similar situation though. I use a Tascam FW-1804 and the first four inserts are XLR/TRS combo jacks. I have external preamps and want to bypass the preamps on the FW. So, in this situation, would using TRS connections on the combo jacks bypass the preamp built in to the Tascam unit?

Yup..it should.

Had to find a picture of the back of the tascam, but yes those are line ins. Some combo jacks are mic/instrument ins, and not technically mic / line level ins.
