I've just put in two new pickups in my tele,

seymore duncan pearly gates, and alnico 2 pro.

I'm using the guitar through a vox night train amp.

but get a terrible buzz, it goes when i touch the metal on the guitar, and the casing of the amp.

obviously it's a grounding problem, but is it more to do with the amp or guitar???

i have no idea!

I'm far from a guitar expert but I believe that's just the name of the game with single coil pickups.

That's definitely a grounding issue. Does the amp have a polarity switch?

This should probably be in the guitar threads.

So you are saying that:
A- it didn't buzz like this before
and
B-it only buzzes when you TOUCH the guitar??

What was in it b4?

Grounded to the bridge? Or where ever one grounds a teley.

Most likely a shielding issue and you are picking up RF, is there a computer screen nearby? Other electrical gear close by, does the sound change as you move the guitar around? Check the guitar shielding and cable shielding 1st up.

I used to have problems years ago from a phone exchange nearby, single coils used to buzz like crazy, I made up an earth wire with a clip one end that clipped to the guitar bridge and the other has a small flat metal strip that the guitar player slipped inside their paints between the paints and skin, effectively earthing them to the guitar at all times even when lifting their hands off the guitar, this solved the problem.

Cheers

Alan

Egg-zachary what I wuz gunna ask. Swapping single coils for singles shouldn't make a huge jump in buzz. In fact singles don't natively buzz they hum. Buzz is a grounding problem. So, again, how it was before the pup swap is THE question of the hour.
