As you probably know here in the uk we pay quite a lot of tax, a mic can cost 2 or 3 times the price of one in the u.s. If i import from the u.s i will have to pay around another 3% import plus another 17.5% value added tax plus postage and the customs never seem to miss. So has anyone in the uk purchased say a Beyer or other make of mic from Germany or other European country, i beleive they can be purchased at a much reduced price. Any info greatly appreciated. Any companies worth dealing with?
Thanks

I've ordered quite a few things from www.musik-produktiv.de
Never had to deal with their support but their prices are pretty good.
I've ordered from the UK once by the way. www.sub.co.uk has reasonably priced SP mics. Prices have gone up recently though..

I've not dared to buy from abroad yet, but www.dv247.com is another site with very good prices.

Just noticed that Red Submarine are doing a pair of C4s with shockmounts and case for £219 inc VAT!! Wow! And B1s are only £60 each! These are the closest to 'proper' prices I've seen.

If you make friends with people on the forum in the US, they might send you a mic at cost if you pay them.

I flew to Germany (Dusseldof) got a cab to a music shop which is about 4 miles from the airport , brought my equipment and flew back, I was fortunate enough to have a friend who gave me the telephone number and address of a great pro music shop, they all spoke English, I rang them a week ahead time to make sure they had what I was looking for in stock, sounds complicated but was very simple and much cheaper.
