i'm thinking about making some business cards for my home studio but i'm not really sure what to put on them as i haven't seen many business cards for studios much less home studios.
i have a very small setup and would probably need to setup in bands practice room for now to record them. i'm just looking for ways to get my name out there for some people to keep in mind if they want some inexpensive recording time. all ideas appreciated.

Since you are a non-traditional studio...put a positive spin with some thing like "innovative audio solutions" under your name.

Yeah..

Good call. The spin you'll want to put on your situation is that you have the flexibility to be mobile (not that you don't have the space to record in studio).

You might present it as a conscious business decision, "Joe Shmoe Studios and Mobile Recordings: Because Low Overhead Equals Low Costs."

That actually sounds ridiculous, but that's the way I'd go. I don't know if using an entire slogan like that is a good idea on a business card - I've only seen that a few times. But maybe put "Low Overhead/Low Costs" below the business name.

Heh. *shrug* It would get MY attention..

thanks for the ideas. the fiancee has been gettin on my case about actually doing something with all the recording equipment i have bought so i need to get things movin.

Hmmmm??? If you are doing stuff at home with it that you enjoy then thier is your answer:D Unless of course you told her that you were going to get rich with it:eek:

Just flick'n shit:D :D :D :D

Pay no attention..

I think green house is really on to something. In fact if I did not have room at home I might go as far as to just call it Mickey's mobile recording.

Now get a good tax man, make reciepts for what you charge people..... Buy massive equipment, and write it off as a loss on your taxes:D :D :D :D

Trust me You can pull this off for about 4 to 5 years...

Yhen when you go to buy equipment you simply tell the bride to be "we need more tax write-offs"

Best of luck

I actually made and sold business cards in my past life.

My advice to you is to keep the card BASIC.

I can be pretty and colorful but, keep the info to a minimum.

Do not list every piece of gear and every last service you do.

The card will never ever sell your business, that is up to you.

Good luck.
