There's Definitely a Difference!
I've just finished a home-recorded project and have been burning the finished product myself on a $200 Iomega burner. I've burned to (Walmart's stock of ) Memorex, Maxell and Imation and I notice A VERY DISTINCT difference in tonal qualities. The Maxell's are a bit noisier, but have a nicer, warmer and rounded-off quality which is easier on the ears. The Memorex is clearer and quieter, but a bit harsh and less warm. The Imation is about the same as the Memorex, but a bit less harsh.
I don't know if it's just the fact that I'm recording copies of a self-produced project, but, like I said, there is a very distinct difference to me. Is Bruce the only one who seems to think there's no real discernible difference?
As you can guess, I'm pretty new to homerec, but if I can hear a significant difference......Or am I just deaf?
