OK so I'm working on about 9 songs with weird intros and just off the wall death metal stuff something like what you're about to hear. I'll be doing a few cover songs as well. This is actually one of the songs I'm covering. The rest of the stuff is much faster and has a lot of up and down tempo changes.

Anyway, the songs are all basically mixed in the fashion of what you're about to hear although a few tracks still need vocals. I'm looking for input on making the mix better. Keep in mind leave it just how it is and it's still better sounding than 75% of the death metal out there LOL. My goal is to polish it up some, take what I've learned form this experience and keep improving on my audio skills.

Hope you enjoy it. I plan to be done with the album around the 22ND right on time for Halloween.

Very distinct sound for death metal, my man. I can actually understand the lyrics!

One thing that kept coming up as I listened was the lack of a "chugga-chugga" guitar. I'd record some sick-awesome chugga's that play along the entire time. Fill out the music a bit more.

Heh... Never thought I'd hear an 80's ballad sung with death-metal vocals. Nice! *ducks*

Great guitar work and tones. The drums sound a bit thin in the mix. I'd get some fatter drum sounds, if it were me.

Nice work!

Do you think just maybe turning up the hi hats, overheads, and adding some more low end to the kick will help pump it up enough? I'm kind of stuck right now with what I have. Some of the songs are pretty fast and have some very odd changes. There aren't any drummers around who know how to play stuff like that.

There is some other instrumentation in the original song, but I kept it simple to make it easier to pull it off. There should be some piano, organ or something. Maybe if I had a keyboard and knew how to play it LOL. It wasn't the easiest song to do, but I still plan to go back and add drums fills to get it as close to the original as possible. I left a lot of that stuff out for now just to keep moving forward knowing I could come back later to finish it up.

yeah the drums are a little thin...just missing that boom...id maybe compress them individually more and add a hall reverb or something?? (my technical expertise lol)

solid mix though and the performance all sounds good to me

good job :)

I do have the "room" track muted lol. It sounded better to me dry as hell because of the snare being so thin and crackling. So, I made it deeper sounding with a little more of it trailing behind each hit.. I'll try a few more things and we'll see how it goes.

It may end up just having to be what it is because like I said I don't have a lot of options and all I can do is try to get it to sound as good as what's in my ability.
