A bullhorn for recording in a home studio is fine, and effects from reason/sonar/audition are fine too.

Live shows are a different story. I know, I know this is a home recording BBS, but someone out there has to know - are there alternatives? A separate mic with a foot pedal (excuse me for lack of knowledge of guitar jargon, I'm a drummer)? I've seen a mic taped to a mic stand that some bands have used, but I have no idea what they are or what they are called.

 help!

What's the effect you're after and what is it going on? Vocals? A guitar? We need some context here :)

sorry, don't mind the n00b.

It's going on vocals. I use a bullhorn in the studio but it would be impossible to play drums live and use it.

Assuming you're talking about vocals, how about one of the Shure Green Bullet Harmonica mics? I seem to remember those did a similar effect on voice.

Not trying to sound n00bish but what is a bullhorn, other than the pointy thing on top of some male animal species?

It's a portable amplified speaker/mic combo built into a horn shaped device used by people informally addressing crowds of people much larger than an unamplified voice could.

Oh yeah, I remember seeing one of these in a Reverend Horton Heat video.

Assume I'm a mental midget - do they require a separate mic stand? :)

Thanks.
