I'm looking at building a project studio on land my parents own that is basicly in the middle of no where. The reason for building it there is because there are no building codes there nor taxes so it won't cost alot to operate (just the light/heat bill).

I want to have a large control room where I can have a couch and a desk behind the console where the band members can hang out during recording and mixdown. I want to have a small live room just big enough for a large drum kit with space for a few band members to jam. And I want to have two iso booths.

I'm thinking that standard construction block might be the best thing to build the walls out of. I haven't priced it yet but how dose it compare in cost to a stud wall with soundproofing?

I'm trying to do this as cheep as possible right now because its just going to be a place for me and my friends to go record CD's and jam. But someday I would like to beable to go pro with it as my skills develop. So right now I want to build the frame of the building and get the control room and live room operational.

For now its just going to be carpet on the floors and simple sound treaments but later if I go pro I will get a few carpeterns in to install hardwood flooring and the such.

Any one have any design ideas? Floor plans, etc...

Any tips on how to build sound proof rooms cheeply?
