Got all the wood at Home Depot:
3 sheets of Birch plywood....
Bunch of Poplar for the trim/finish work

Rack rails from Markertek

Tools:

Circular Saw
Sawzall
Jigsaw
Drill
Router
Orbital and Finish Sander

took Friday afternoon, all day Saturday and a case of Sam Adams Boston Ale....2 days and about $350.....I'll post the finished pix probably on Wed/Thur....got 2 more coats of Poly to throw on...

Looks very cool. I built all my stuff too. I can't stand the thought of spending money on ANYTHING that I think I can do myself. Mikey likes it.

Looks great. I, too, built my own but I didn't do much for finishing. I have so much stuff that by the time it all got loaded in you can't find the wood since every inch has something in or on it.

Can't wait to see how it all looks in your room fully loaded.

Great job!!

Darryl.....

Thanx everyone for taking a peek...Like I said I'm no woodworker, (RF Technican by trade) but damn...I'm proud of this thing....Came out 10x better than I could of expected....

Alec: Those sheets of birch were like $49. Got them @ Home Depot along w/ all the wood. They are like 8' x 4'...(I think...I'm pretty sure all the sheets were the same @ home depot......)
I did have to move like 10 sheets down the stack @ the depot until I find the 3 best pieces.

DDev: Bad thing is, I gonna have ALOT of empty rack spaces.....So I'll probably be dusting off the VISA soon to fill er' up!!!!

Mike...

The company I work for is mostly a wireless construction company....I head our "Technical Services" department which our company started a few years back to "widen their horizons.". Very cool. I do RF for a living too. I maintain and design cable/telephony/high speed data headends.
