Building a rack...Heat dissipation?

I spose this is the right place for this...

I'm building a little 4U rack to sit on my desk and house my Alesis Studio 12R 3U rack mixer and my Delta 1010. I was just wondering if I should be worried about heat accumulating in there, as I've noticed that the 1010 can get pretty hot after running for an extended period of time.

Any thoughts?

Just make sure that it's an open backed rack... or at least, that you can remove the back while the equipment is running. Those devices all have the cooling fans on the back anyways, so it wouldn't make much of a difference as long as the back is getting ventilation.

If a little noise is not an issue, get a small computer fan. You can hook it up on a switch. They are fairly inexpensive.

I don't know what I was thinking yesterday, but there are no cooling fans on my rack gear at home, hehehehe.... I was thinking about computers.... Regardless, I wouldn't imagine it to be a problem. Any pro studio keeps all of their gear on a rack, and I've never heard anyone worry about heat before in this context.

One little tip, build the rack twice as big as you think it needs to be, that way you always have room to add new gear. For one I would get a little rack power conditioner with the nice little rack lights.
