A friend of mine is giving me a Beyer M88 he said it was in a kick drum at a live show and stopped working after the first set.
So now it's up to me to fix it, instead of sending it back to Beyer is there a company or person who can fix this mic. for me at a reasonable price ?
thanks

Depends on what's wrong with it. Dead capsule pretty much means sending it to Beyer. Anything else is probably just a resoldering job.

OK thanks I'll start the surgery this weekend. My guess is the membrane broke up due to HSP levels but people use them in kicks all the time even tho Beyer says not to for it's a vocal mic.

There's enough metal around most mics that I wouldn't expect that unless it's really, really old with a brittle PVC membrane or something. I suppose it's possible, but if it's a capsule problem, my guess would be that something in the magnet/coil assembly went beyond its normal range of motion and got stuck. Not sure how practical it is to disassemble those capsules, but if so, it could just be a matter of pulling it apart and putting it back together correctly. Dunno.

That said, 9 times out of 10, it's a broken wire.
