Heat it with a soldering iron and no, it won't melt the screw.hopefully :D

Solder has a low melting point, something like 200°C, compared to steel which is in the thousands of degrees. Hence, unless the grub screws are made from solder, which is highly unlikely, they aren't going to melt if you use a soldering iron on them.
 
ok i've done it. i NEVER want to do that again. i had to use a hairdrier. thanx for all your help.
