Hey I just recorded a group which consisited of all black people. I was very worried at first when the walked in with their equipment which consisted of a Peavey bass and rig, a pearl export set, a Korg Triton, and come cheap congas tuned way too high.
Anyway it ended up going Ok and here is a clip. Listen if you would like. The clip is kind of rough with no 'verb yet. Just a bit of compression here and there.
The mic used is a Sennhieser md441U.
I think it sounds fantastic. The only problem with this mic is that it needs a lot of gain. On one of the vocalists I had to crank my gain near 65 db!! But luckily the preamps on my Aardvark are crystal clear even turned almost all the way up.
Look at it as an option. Everyone else around here raves on about this mic too. It is pretty nice. I think they are getting them at around $300 on Ebay.

Right there with you, my man. Eventhough I might be half of your age (I'm in my 20's), I dig chicks from the 40's and 50's as well. I mean, they don't make 'em like Rita Hayworth now, do they?littledog said:

Hey, Speedy - I wasn't always that big on Jennifer A. until I saw that movie with Mark Wahlberg as the vocalist from the tribute band that gets picked to replace the real singer from the original band (can't remember title of movie) and there is that scene where Miss A. walks around for a while in a basically transparent mesh dress...
I always thought Sandra was sexy, but more from her inner personality than from being a drop-dead classic beauty. I kind of like Minnie Driver too - but I'm into voluptuous brunettes. She doesn't always play sexy roles, but check her out in "Beauty" some time...
Seems like some of the hottest women can be found just be turning on Univision (the Spanish cable station). My girlfriend can't figure out why the hell I watch programs where I can't understand a word they are saying...

I do not believe you need another mic. If you have a mixer with hi, low, mid EQ knobs like the MACKIE I use than you just set the knobs to the way you your vioce to sound on the track that your mic is on. Very simple! Or if you have a voice trancefromer you can lower the pitch of your voice a couple of notches. I meen sometimes that's what I do and both methods work fine. I'm white I've been freestyling for about ten years and producing for the pass two years. Believe me people will tell you anything to get you to believe that they know what their talking about or to sell you something. A mic isn't going to change the way your voice sounds.

I am not sure about black rappers but here's some general advice:
I am having a lot of success recording chinese rappers with mxl and studio projects mics. For aryan rappers I always reach for a neumann. Russian rappers tend to sound good with oktavas. If the mc is ass broke he usually sounds ok on a radio shack mic. As a rule gangsta rappers weapon of choice is an AK, G!
