So I was trying get all my tracks from my 1180 that I use for a travel rig and after burning around 10 cds last night the drive started making noise. I had to reboot the machine cause it was frozen. Now whenever I try to burn a new CD the machine accepts the cd and pretends to start burning, but the light stops on track 5 after about 5 minutes and the machine just sits. It never finished burning. The machine still works, but it won't burn cds. The shitty thing is that this is the ONLY way to get data off.

Sure I could play each track manually and record it through the outputs, but then none of the tracks would line up and it would take me forever to sync them.

Have any of you ever run into this problem before? Can you replace the CD burner? I have spares if I can use them for parts.

Hey there undrgrnd

I'm sorry to read of your cd burning problem. That's a real pain.

I've had the odd glitch in my BR1600cd with some brands of CDR and CDRW.

If necessary, I would expect Boss could replace your CD burner.

Try posting your question on www.takeforum.com/br1600cd

There are BR1180cd users on that forum too and there may be 1600 users who have had similar problems who can offer a solution.

I hope you get it sorted.

Good luck:)

Whenever I use the more expensice cd's that happens to me too, it always works when I use bulk/cheaper cd-r's. There's a list in the back of the manual that tells you which companies are most compatible with the BR. You need to find out also some brands are all the same by the same factory.
