im recording stereo drums through a mackie into my br-8....i have my overheads panned hard left and hard right on the mackie.....questions is, there are 2 red blinking lights when i do "line-in" recording from the mackie...i presume these are left and right channels (correct me if im wrong?)- is the sound that i panned hard left and right on my mixer going in the br-8 hard left and right or do i need to go into "pan" on the br-8 and do hard left and right also??? please help me with the details of this???? thanks alot

If you just push the line in button, they are not panned. They are panned after recording with the line in. Just push the pan button after recording and you can see. Of course if you are using the line in to record to only one track, there is no panning.

thanks-also, how would i track my drummer...i'm going to put him on 2 stereo tracks like i said, but do you have any ideas of how a guitarist or bassist can paly a scratch track with him but without it getting record on the same drum tracks...should i get a headphone mixer or something like that??

I would suggest puting the amp in another room with a very long cord, then give them both headphones so they can play in the same room together. Otherwise just DI the guitar.

But you called it a scratch track, so you really shouldn't care too much right, it is getting tosses out........?

For a scratch track with limited space and tracks I would suggest a mic in the room and let them go at it.
