i am having a problem with bouncing in pro tools. when i bounce a track to a stereo wav or a aiff file it says i am missing a codec. the funny thing is that this problem just started happen all of a sudden. anyboby had this problem

Never. :(

Have you restarted the computer? Mac or PC?

-C

yea i restarted it and even reinstalled it but that didn't work. i have a pc for right know but i will soon be changing over to mac. its just so smooth on a mac i probably wouldn't be have this problem right now if i had a mac

why don't you just use your install disc and repair your Pro Tools applications? Or if that dosn't work, a reinstall only takes you a few minutes.

Sometimes that's the easiest fix for these curve balls PT throws at you.

Hmmm...

I think PT also requires Quicktime for some of its functionality. I think only for movies, but you never know. You might try downloading that and installing it.

Something might be screwed in the OS, as well. :( Sometimes it takes LESS time to just back everything up, format your harddrive, and reinstall. Less time than trying a bunch of things and finding that it still doesn't work.

Good luck,

Chris

Pro tools HA,HA,HA

I never really understood why anyone would use anything but N-Track or FL 6. I hear about prob's with almost all recording programs, I have been using N-Track and FL6 for 10 years and never had any prob's anytime and N-Track not only has everything you will eaver need it also sounds better than all that Ive ever tried (sp Acoustic Guitar sound) you don't get a better sound (Recording in LIVE mode) anywhere. Protools Ha sorry youre going through this but thats protools for you, No matter what anyone says. Just try it for yourself. This is your answer: N-Track or Fruityloops 6.

I'm sorry, but DAW software does not directly determine the sound quality of your material. That's a myth.

In terms of errors, any piece of software is just as prone as Pro Tools. Whether you're dealing with Nuendo, Logic, Cubase, Fruity Loops, etc.

(dirtydoo)-

Like I mentioned before, if you're still having a conflict with the codec, you might have corrupt program files that should easily be repaired with the install disk.

That's strictly from an operator's point of view. I'm not a software programmer, so I couldn't really say what the problem is in detail.

Is it the answer for incontinence, erectile disfunction, and flatulence too?

I'm glad n-track is working for you, Daniel. That's what I started on, as well. I liked it a lot- except for its tendency to crash repeatedly on my setup and its *very* basic interface. Worked well, though. For the price, especially, it has TONS of features and Flavio's support is excellent.

And I've paid for my rock solid Pro Tools rig *many* times over with the work it has gotten me. THAT's why one would use Pro Tools ha. Never had serious problems on my PC or my Mac with Pro Tools either, ha.

If anything, its the PC that's f*cked and not Pro Tools ha.

But if you don't need the work or your customers don't care what platform you're using, sure use whatever is cheapest and works.

Take care,
Chris

Daniel,

Tell me you're just joking around........

Right??

i finally got the tracks to play but i had to use a different method. instead of bouncing with stereo interleved i have to use window media file type with just a stereo format. i haven't really test the sound but i am finally going to put it on cd and give it to dude who paid me to mix it (how embarrasing)
i tryed everything you guys told me and i sure am thankful for all the help but nothing worked, its weird how it just happened like that, anyway i am probably about to format my system

if you are using win XP service pack 1 works best. Also a few other things that may be a problem, If you have P4 you need to disable the HT and at the digidesign website download and install the cs 6 and cs 9 patches. after that you should have no problems at all. I took me forever to figure all this out and now it runs flawlessly.
