I mean you never listened to it. You have no way of really hearing how it sounds. Yet, you forked out the dough for additoinal pieces in your vocal chain based on comments, recommendations, etc from this forum. In other words , If you have done this list your gear purchases based on this forum's posts where you were completely blind or had no idea as to what the product actually sound liked. Im just curious. Ill go first.

MXl V67g
Sp B-1
Sp VTB-1
MXL V69

LOL

I have been "pleased" not estatic,, with each personally

Malcolm

TC Electronics M1
RNC

C1
Autotune Hardware
NTK
MC012
CAD mic (Lo end, can't remember model)
Crest tootepaste

I returned the CAD mic, sold the C1 and RNP. All else has been good. The Costco tp chaifed my sensitive skin so I switched to Charmin.

. . . If you don't bother going to the MP3 clinic.

I remember hearing a clip in the clinic done with a Blue Dragonfly, and I thought it was one of the best recordings of a voice I had ever heard. Which prompted me to go to Guitar Center on a Sunday afternoon and audition it along with about 5 other mics.

Does that count?

That was after buying a couple of Marshalls based on comments on this board, and then selling them because they sounded like gar baje'. :D

sp b1
mxl 990
ecm 8000 (but hasn't everyone?)
boss se-50

SP B1 and VTB-1. For a first proper mic and preamp it was amazing.

SP C3

(HD24 and Masterlink too... but those aren't vox channel things)

Velvet Elvis

I mostly ended up buying and selling a bunch of cheap crap. However, I also got my Josephson's, M88, Great River, and etc because of recommendations here and auditioning them... and I love them.

Why did you sell the RNP?

How do you like the M1? Have you compared it to plug-ins like Waves?

Thanks

I went with a Voicemaster Pro over the RNP after trying both. I needed a strong vocal channel and this fit the bill. I already had a DMP3 for other stuff and there is not a huge difference for most instruments between the two. Except of course I would probably opt for the RNP on acoustic if I had the choice.

M1 is running SPDIF when I need longer delays, hall reverbs etc. The shorter verbs and delays usually are relegated to software plugs. The software however does not sound as good as the M1 on the longer more ambient sounds. Regarding Waves, I have used it but done no direct comparisons. Any time I can get external on reverbs I try to go that way just to reduce cpu cycles.

1. drum overheads - RNP, you would want the clarity in the high end.
2. snare - Could go either way. The lo and mids would be about the same. If you wanted some snap maybe the RNP.
3. kick - Save yourself some money DMP3
4. toms - Save yourself some money DMP3

IMHO

I bought the MXL V67 and MK-012 from reviews here. Love the Oktavas, the MXL is on it's way out of the chain.

Middleman thanks!

I'm just down the road from you in costa mesa/newport.

I've purchased the following based on this forum:
M-Audio TAMPA preamp
AT4040
BLUE mic cables
Proper digital cables
ATM25
ECM8000

and finally.......
a matched pair of oktava mk-012's from guitar center after hearing all the rave reviews on this forum. Incidentally, I got them for $99 and yes, they are matched. The guy at guitar center didn't seem to know the difference and said he gave me the matched ones because he was "in a good mood on a Friday". Funny thing is.....I was in a good mood after I paid for them :)
