Bought a new mixer-- the USB playback cuts in and out only when playing games?

Hey everybody, just signed up. Hope I can find somebody who'll help me out.

So I just bought the Yamaha MG10XU mixer. I'm using it to power and EQ my AT2020 condenser microphone, and handle my sound system and headphones for output.
The mixer is also a USB audio interface, allowing for my computer playback to be played through the mixer, and my microphone input to be read as a recording device.

So the mixer works great. I'm very happy with everything it has to offer. There's just one issue.
I'm a gamer. Using this mixer to handle my audio and my microphone input is essential.
But when I play games, something odd happens. The audio gradually begins cutting in and out. Like a half-second audible pause.
The gameplay is not interrupted, it's just the audio.
When I plug my headphones directly into my onboard sound card, it works perfectly fine.
Before the MG10XU, I used a Steinberg CI-1 USB audio interface. It worked perfectly fine as well.

Another thing I'd like to note that may be interesting to consider. The audio cuts aren't simply half-second mutes.
The sounds in-game literally pause during the cut, and continue after the break.
For example, in Battlefield 1 when the announcer says "Edward". If it pauses, they would say "Ed"----"ward".
It's almost as if the playback device is causing the game itself to break. I'm not sure what this could be.

I've done a lot of googling, and I honestly haven't seen anybody report a situation like this.
Does anybody have an idea on what I can do to solve this situation?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!

JJ

What software are you using to record the microphone signal? I ask because you probably need to increase the buffer size in that software. Trouble is, an increase in buffer size will result in increased latency, i.e. delay.

The Yamaha mixer probably uses "generic" USB drivers which are not up to much? You could try ASIO4ALL but I don't hold out a lot of hope. The Steinberg AI worked well I would assume BECAUSE of good drivers.

Do you still have the C1? If so the only solution might be to run the mixer as analogue only feeding the line inputs on the well behaved AI. I am assuming you need the mixer for other reasons?

Dave.

Also make sure the sample rate matches across everything.

It seems like it was a sample rate issue. After a lot of trial and error, going back and forth with the technical support, I wasn't able to find a solution for this. I've even plugged the mixer into another computer and ran a heavy game, and it gave even worse audio cuts.

I decided to return the mixer. Might as well put my money towards something that won't give me unnecessary headache.
Will report back later with the results of the new mixer. It won't be the same one, or brand.

EDIT: Just wanted to answer you ecc83:

What software are you using to record the microphone signal?

While the issue does effect recordings, this is not a recording issue. The problem happens live, while I'm playing my games. The strange thing is, my Steinberg CI-1 uses the same drivers as the MG10XU. Which leads me to believe it may have something to do with the hardware itself. It's an issue I don't want to deal with in continuation after a replacement, so I'm simply returning it and buying a different mixer.
