Any powered monitor system will work. Question is what can you afford to pay ? What size is the main room you will mix in ? If its a super small room then a speaker with a 6" woofer like the KRK Rokit 6's should do nicely. If its a large room then 8" (KRK Rokit 8's). But price is a big point too. I started out with a set of Behringer Truth 1031's (older set) and they are really quite nice. A little bass heavy, but a good starting point. I still own then and put them in my live room which is a 30' x 30' room. And they work great in that room as a monitor set for that room. I now use KRK Rokit 8's and they better suit my mixing room (not as bass heavy).
