I finally ordered a new Boss BR-8 which should be here early next week. I went to Office Depot to get some zip disks and the only ones they had were formatted for IBM. Will the Boss re-format them or have I got the wrong ones?

The BR8 will initiate them immediately. You are in for a good time.

Wonder what your first cuts will be? There's something magic about new work w a fresh tool.

Cool Machine!!!

Hey Bogey.....Just got a BR-8 myself!! It does initialize the disk for you....as a2fay said. Its a cool machine...lots of possiblities!! Drop me a line sometime and maybe we can learn stuff from each other!

I'm thinking about getting one. Is there any latency delay when using effects, like they have in computer/software setups? BTW, the price around here is $700. Same there?

There is a Roland VS-840-EX in a store here for $750 (store demo) Do you think I should buy that, rather than the BR-8?? I need a quick decision!! It has a 250mb zip.

'drat,
That's a good price on the 840. Get it! Unless you're tech-shy. For me the BR-8's ease of use is a huge factor. I don't want a mixing board in front of me. By the way, I've never heard anyone say that latency is a problem on these stand alones.

For more on my misadventures and fun with the BR-8, see my guitarist's chronicle at http://br8page.editthispage.com

Bon chance!
