Blues Jr.

another update -- I put the old RCA EL84s in it -- wow! great tone and almost zero noise -- I can literally turn it all the way up (volume and master, and volume/tone on the guitar with a humbucker, strings muted), and it's almost completely quiet (little buzz/hum), until I strum a chord, then it almost knocks me out of my chair. I'm in heaven!! :D

I'm in heaven!! :D

That's what it's all about. This evening I plugged my Epi Sheraton II into my '63 Silvertone Twin Twelve, and I couldn't put it down.

Of course, the same thing happens when I plug my newly acquired ES-335 reissue into my Blues Jr, or my LP Deluxe into my Jazzmaster Ultralight.

Ain't life good?

The world is so full of such marvelous things, we all should be as happy as kings. Works for me.

Indeed it is -- those twin twelves look kickass, but I've never played through one. I have a little Silvertone 1470 practice amp from that era (uses a 50C5 power tube, like you'd find in a small radio) - sound great, too. It's got to be the only amp I have that I can push to saturation and still talk over :)

deal on Blues Jr

OK, so this thread got me thinking, and today i see a craiglsit post for a "excellent" condition Blues Jr for $250.

Checking it out after work, probably going to pick it up if it is in good shape.

Wasn't quite ready to spend any extra $ just now, but I've been all about playing around with different tone options lately....

If it were me, I would keep using the RCA EL84's and see if you can't find a old RCA or Amperex Bugle boy for the Blues Junior. You think it sounds good now? Just wait ;)

Australian price

Check out the Australian price JUST PRIOR to the 30% drop in value against the US$
FENDER BLUES-JUNIOR ALL TUBE TONE !

"The Blues Junior...just buy one. A warm-toned favorite takes a 15-watt tube preamp/power amp platform and pushes it through a 12" Fender Special Design speaker. That sound comes courtesy of a pair of EL-84 Groove Tube output tubes and three 12AX7 preamp tubes more
only $899.00 "

It'll be at least 30% more now. $1200????

rayc -- yackk!!! Definitely start an aussie amp company :) That's insane.

xstatic -- you've got me on ebay :D

daav - think of it this way: you can probably sell it for more than $250 :D

one more question -- has anyone tried a Weber speaker in one of these? I'm looking at the specified 12f150 ( https://taweber.powweb.com/weber/12f150.htm ), but I've also heard people using other ones there. The alnico version of that one is a $195 , but has anyone used it?

& that's at a place that deals in volume & is relatively cheap.

That bites. Mine was worth every penny of $325 used--but at $899 (much less $1200) I wouldn't even have looked at it...:(

Whitestrat -- are you using the stock speaker?

I have a couple of 8 ohm Weber Signatures that I put in my 2x12 cab, so maybe I'll pull one of those and try it. I think they're probably very different from the ones I mentioned earlier, though.
