I recently bought a Blue Yeti and I have been having some problems with the audio quality. I'm not sure if its the Microphone or the settings. I am using it to make Let's Plays and do some voice acting.

The recommended settings were:
Gain 50%
Mic Volume 80%
Cardioid Mode

When there is even a little bit of gain, the audio becomes inaudible. Almost like listening to vibration rather than a voice, so I've had to remove gain all together. Also the Mic volume has had to be put down to 10% because it keeps capping off at the highest volume and becomes distorted. However the audio is still not great, especially when i get louder.

I don't know whats wrong. Has anyone heard of/had experience with these issue before? Any advice?

Here is a video I made using the Mic. It starts to get worse when i get louder past the 4 minute mark, i think. (Exchange "(dot)" with "." ) www(dot)youtube.com/watch?v=A3mxYNMXmxE

Thanks in advance!

Anyone? I could really use some help, as I am very new to using a proper mic.

Thanks for the reply. I get louder at 7:55, that minute or so highlights the problem I think. Also I'm concerned because I have been forced to make the Mic Volume 10% (now 6%), and It still becomes distorted at when I get louder.

what do you mean did away with gain altogether?
Turning up the gain should result in more volume .... not less.
And having the mic distort at low levels sounds like too much gain so what exactly is going on here?
Maybe instead of getting rid of gain you've actually maxed it out?

EDIT: I listened up thru 10 minutes ...... I'm with arcaxis ..... I don't hear a problem and there's plenty of volume.

There is a dial on the Mic for Gain, This had to be turned all the way to off because if it was 50% or even 10% it would distort and become crackly, like listening to vibration. I double checked to make sure the gain is lowered and not increased. Also the only reason the volume is louder in the video is because I had to increase the volume afterwards when editing in Abobe Premiere
