All I can say is, what a beast!

Ever see one of these monsters? It's like a thermos bottle with capsule on top. I had not seen one of these until today up at the Hollywood GC. At first I thought it was a joke.

I can't believe the size of this thing. It's as long as my forearm and about 5 inches in diameter. Is there a mic holder that can suspend one of these?

Anyone have a story on these mics?

I own one. I've only got 2 capsules for it right now a b-6 and b-7. it's good

Wow, slobbermonster must be loaded. I've seen them in studio I was in, but didn't use it. It IS a beast, I don't know of any other mic quite that big. I'd think you'd have to have one of the nice atlas stands on wheels with a weighted base to hold the thing up very well. And I'm pretty sure it has a custom mount and suspension.

Slobbermonster, got anything you've recorded with it for us to hear?

Yes I do, But MP3 does not do it justice. THere is no custom mount jus threaded spot in the big "coffee can.

they also have a smaller version, the Baby Bottle, and even that one is awesome. I used it several occasions on a hi-hat

When you get there click on her song "He's my Strength".

The vocal and accoustic guitar was using the Bottle, but I don't remember which capsule on what. There is NO EQ applied and the only effect is a little reverb. The signal chain is mic to a Vs2480 with no external preamps or compresson.

It's just the rough mix.

That mic sounds really nice, even without high end pres and such.

I have heard the baby bottle, and it's cool and all, especially for the price...but it's no bottle. Now I'm going to have GAS for this mic. Did you get a deal somewhere slobbermonster? Or did you lay down the 5 grand!? It's not exactly a "home" recording level of a mic. Not even many nice studios I have been in own one.

It was a fluke deal. A friend of mine who is a dealer had one returned at the 28th day of his 30 day return policy (free rental) so he was sort of paniced about such a huge return. He sold it to my for a grand under his cost. It was still a little over $3000 with the deal. I've got a lot of buddies that call me wanting to use it on there home spun projects so it's been handy to have around.

My only complaint is the "coffee can" is a bit big. so if your in a room with low ceilings you have to turn it upside down
