Block Fastclick Popup

I just found this little tweak for blocking fastclick popups. Anyone that goes to soundclick knows about the fastclick popups crap. I figured I should put it in the mp3 clinic since it's relevant in some way.

Copy and paste this to your run box in windows: %windir%\system32/drivers/etc/hosts

Open with Notepad. Copy and paste this to a new line: 127.0.0.1 media.fastclick.net

Save it. No more fastclick popups.

Go download hosts file they provide. They block a lot more than just the fastclick. I have never looked back.

thanks bigbubba. i've known about the host file since the first time i ran spybot but never thought to add things to it myself. i will soon be in a popup free universe.

Or you could do it the easy way. Use Firefox as your browser and select "block popups" in the options. http://www.majorgeeks.com/Mozilla_Firefox_d2248.html

FireFox is a good browser for those that don't want the hassle of popups and other IE related issues. I don't like the browser. But it still is safer to use than IE.

With hosts entries, if other stuff gets on your computer and tries to get out, it will resolve to the localhost if the domain is found in hosts.
