Blisters: How do YOU deal with them?

Yes, God created drum machines so that people who don't play drums often don't complain about getting blisters :D
Seriously I haven't had a blister for years, my hands don't really have callouses. I used to get blisters when I first started playing though. I think what it was was that I was trying to play too fast for myself, so my hands would tense up and I would end up holding the sticks too tight.

If a drummer gets a blister during a show which I have, and lets face it when you're in a high energy band it's bound to happen anyways. My drum tech gave me one of the best solutions use super glue. Sounds crazy but my Drum tech got the idea from his experience working in an Emergency room. It's not exactlly what they use on wounds but it will seal it and prevent infection and farther blistering. when the glue hardens the body absorbs the glue.

I just chew the fucker off, duct tape it, and continue.

...and yes, my technique sucks, and I don't care.

I'm starting to get a nasty blister on the inside of my thumb, just wondering how everyone else takes care of their blister problems.

keep playing and a calus will develop over the said spot.

i like to stab it with a tac and suck the juice out of it. hey, it works!

i pop em cos i dont want scars and things. i used to get loads, all down my fingers and palm but i invested in a simple army style pair and now i only get them wen i forget my gloves

PS RXqueen that sounds absolutly disgusting but i good idea. i normally just squeeze em and they go like a fountain

I'm primarily a guitarist, and have had plenty of blisters and rawness from guitar back at the beginning.....I haven't had any for quite some time though, so I would think you would get callouses if you play consistently....ALSO, I play drums for church and when bands need a fill in (I'm a fine steady drummer, just not as accomplished as guitar....and I enjoy guitar more) and I have never had a problem with blisters as far as drums go....I think one time i got a tiny raw spot, but that was nothing....I also was taught to hold sticks loosely....AND LASTLY the super glue thing is great. I recently got a big slice right where the finger hits the guitar string so I definitely super glued it up, and then got the sticky clear smooth plastic part of a bandaid and put it over it ( I tore the end off, the smooth plastic slides alot better than the pad part of a bandaid)....My dad is a doctor and he says super glue is pretty similar to the liquid stitching stuff they use at the office.....OK, I think that's all I had to add.....later

super super glue your fingers where you get blisters before playing. let dry. play.

yeah..meh.. i just pop the hell outta mine with a safetey pin, drain it, soak it in some alchy, and then im fine to rock...and i agree with those weird black grip sticks, they were the ones that gave me blisters, but i stick to play zildjs now and i havent had a blister since

im not too expirienced, and i used to get bad blisters. But after my friends showed me to correctly hold the sticks (pivot at the thumb and side of index finger, instead of at the back of the palm), the blisters stop comming back. And now i even play harder, and do more rolls than before.
