I have seen people put a blanket over the front end of the kickdrum when recording. Can someone please explain this to me? How does it work and how is it done properly?

Why not throw a blanket over your bass drum and try it out for yourself?

I think the point of the blanket is to help isolate the rest of the kit from the kik mic. Less bleed.

I think........ :D

Dogbreath is right, I do it for that, but first I place a puff in front of it making something like a tunnel covering kick & puff with a thick blanket.

I too, use a blanket to isolate the kick drum.
