Thansk, Bill, I'll give it a try and check back. Note that I am only talking about burning 1 song, i.e., 1 mastered program, onto the CD, and am failing to get all the tracks of that 1 program/song onto the CD.
I think the "NON1 NON2" business is for recording successive, independently mastered programs of multi-tracked music to successive tracks of the CD. Man, that manual is killing me!
Ok, I see more clearly now... Are you following this procedure... Bounce tracks 1-6 down to 7/8; then push the "master" button; now you are creating the master tracks (a whole new program) from 1-6. If so, then all 6 tracks have to be on the master. Make sure when you bounce down that all tracks (1-6) are activated (green button at top of track fader is lit...).
I'm guessing that you are not bouncing down 1-6 before attempting a master??? Maybe???
OOOOORRRRR is it that the program you are selecting for the CD burn isn't the new, mastered one (which will have a new program number and a name that begins with MST), but the original one you mastered from??? In other words: Say your original song is program #6... After you do a master, the fostex makes a new program for the master automatically placing it as the last program after all others (let's say it's #10). So when you burn, you have to select #10 as the intended program, NOT #6. Sorry if these suggestions are way off the problem.
Handy tip... When bouncing down, when you have your mix set where you want it, press the "SCENE (fader)" BUTTON. This saves your fader settings in the memory for later recall. Why? Because if you want to tweak your mix, instead of having to guess where everything was set all you do is press the shift key, plus the fader key, and the display will show you exactly where each fader was. If the display says the recall feature is disabled, then just go into the set-up mode, scroll down to "fader recall" and turn it on. It will give you a few option (I pick the "TRK&MST" option).
As to the fade-in/out of the guitar, I feel even more certain it has something to do with the mastering effects compression. Are you fiddling with the compression settings? On the tracks I sent you, only the techno spot used the mastering effects -- the "Flat" factory setting one. Usually I don't use the mastering effects.
Don't be discouraged. There are a wealth of features on the VF80 that at first can seem daunting. After a while of playing you realize how incredibly capable this machine is...
