Hey listen to this link http://www.soundclick.com/bands/9/trademarcmusic.htm and listen for the guy to start rapping do you think i will be able to achive this sound qauilty with a 100 dollar marshall MXLV67 mic(witch has the uglyest look to it) or could i achive this with a shure sm 48 ? or will i need a better mic ?
because i rap and im going to have a pre amp with a mic into threw the pre amp into the comp and im trying to get demo qauilty or radio qauilty or close to it or do u know any mics that will be able to achive this qauilty for in the price range of 100-200

i tryed searching for this on the bbs and goggle but didnt find anything so take it easy if i did something wrong in this post

No offence dude, but you've obviously hung around the board for a while now (123 posts) & I would've thought you'd have realised that there's more to getting a great vocal sound than simply buying a mic. Or any piece of kit for that matter.

Get the pretty mic... if it doesn't work, fire the singer. :D

The problem is that his kid gets picked on all the time and defends himself. That's where the post count comes from.

@JSkillz
I understand you're situated in NY, right? So there should be at least some music stores in your neighbourhood. Go there and check out some mics. Apart from that, I guess a SM58 would suit you just fine.

Yeah i know there's more to learn and ive been reading things but im wondering if the shure sm 58 be able to reach like whats on the web site i posted up above

I bet Tina Turner sounds like Tina Turner no matter what mic she uses... and no one else will sound just like Tina Turner no matter what mic they use.... go audition some mic's for yourself and buy the one YOU like best for your voice.

not really worried about like how i sound im worring about buying the mic for good qauilty
u know when i dont edit them and there bare i want good vocals cuz even if u edit crappy vocals u still got crap u know whats why im thinking if i buy the shure sm 58 i wouldnt have qauilty like if i bought the shure ksm 27 and i made a mistake i should have posted this in newbies but yeah thats my question

What these guys are telling you is to audition mics on YOUR voice, if that's gonna be your main use of the mic.

Personally, if you up your budget to about $500-600US there's a lot more quality stuff to choose from. Then you need a decent preamp. Figure another $250-500US/channel for good sounding preamps.

And then another $500 on up for a decent sound card/ AD/DA converters.

I don't think you're going to get demo or radio quality from

...a old Mic Or Preamp or crappy sound card or any thing the dont want and more and is about to throw out or will like to give away for free to a person in need :(

im getting a PreSonus Blue Tube with a shure ksm 27 mic beacause i desided just to buy the ksm 27 mic for 300 because a poor man cant affored cheap stuff meaning if i buy a cheap mic and im not satifid with it ima have to go out and spend more money

for the same money you can get a Marshall MXLv69 or v77 and a M-Audio DMP3 preamp......

PreSonus Blue Tube thats the pre amp not the best but i like it and it will make my mic work

See what you can get for your BlueTube and get something decent. A DMP3 is a great start.

jskillz... where in brooklyn are you? Hop on the F-train and take it to 14th street in Manhattan... They just opened up the "flagship" Guitar Center there... Try out some mics and some pre's on your own voice and talk to the sales reps in there. I was just there and most of them were actually pretty knowledgable (which is suprising), and were eager to help.

Oh yeah... and jskillz... you don't need to make the headings of your threads read "CALLING ALL SOUND ENGINEERS!!!" or "THE BIG MIC QUESTION...CHECK IT OUT!!!!". You sound like your selling something like a used car salesman or something... Take a look at how everyone else posts their threads. Also... I'm not ragging on you, but it is much easier to read your replies when you use punctuation. I know you know how to use punctuation because I've seen you do it on a few threads... don't be lazy. It's a pain in the ass to read and understand what you're saying!

take your above post for example....
