Hi there,

Does anyone try Yahoo Answer?
It is really a nice play where you can promote and get reviews about your music.

Quora?
Try Quora. Nice place where you can generate question regarding your music.

Social Media?
Try Social Media's pages, groups to promote your music.

So try these tactics and get more reviews about your music.

Probably not a bot. His posts just read like a noob, and he's not linking to anything to promote.

Hi Andy. Welcome to the boards.

I doubt that Yahoo is going to be very good for promoting your music.
It's sort of expected that you'll have a Facebook, twitter, etc for a modern band, but those things in and of themselves won't get your songs listened to.

The best way to promote your music is probably to tell everyone you can about it through whatever channels you interact with them using. Play a bunch of open mics and shows to get strangers to hear your music.
Be really personable and friendly when telling people about your music.

Oh, also play really good music. That step's important too. :D

Yahoo would totally work. "Does anyone know why this band sucks so bad"

I am sure people would flock to crap like that.

First of all, your music has to be awesome in the first place! All your marketing and promotion attempts will be a lot easier and more successful if you follow this rule.

Apart from that, building a mailing list has been very rewarding for me. I have over 6,000 mailing list subscribers at the moment and whenever I send out an email with a link pointing to my newest music, I get hundreds of email opens and clicks. Which gets me a lot of traffic and song plays. But this won't happen from one day to the next. Building a mailing list takes consistency, some technical skills and some internet marketing know-how.

I wouldn't use Yahoo to promote your music directly. There's really no value provided and it's a bit spammy. But if you have a blog with tips and tricks for fans of your genre (for example), you could answer people's questions about that genre and embed a few links to your blog. I think that's a more value-giving and smooth way to promote yourself indirectly. But I've heard that Yahoo Answers isn't a very good traffic source anymore. Some people were very successful with it a couple of years ago, but I've heard (mainly on the Warrior Forum) that it doesn't work as well anymore.

Everything works, you just have find what you like doing. I have a lot of success with email lists. I know people who swear by "facebook" I personally can't stand that platform. Some will tell you twitter, that might not be your thing etc e tc

Find the platform you like and make it work.

i think you just have to get your music heard everywhere post it in forums, social media, friends ask for feedback and most importantly produce good music!
