Best way to double mic the kick drum

Try using a shotgun mic over the other side of the room, shove a frequency gate on it and limit the bejesus out of it. No close kick mic, just a side-snare mic and stereo overheads, your drums will sound great.

I have never tried this, and it will certainly sound like crap.

That's why you should flip the phase on the shin-mic.

ahahaha wasn't there a thread about someone and their brilliant idea of drum stick mics on this forum a while ago? An overhead drum mic helmet might be the best idea for overheads... EVER.
