best programs to start off with

Hi there every1, im new to this whole recording thing. I have a us-122L and a mic to hook up to my pc and i have some mp3 instrumentals to add lyrics too. My questions is what would be the best and easiest program to use to record my lyrics to the instrumentals i have downloaded. Thank you for any help you can give.

jk - try Audacity and Reaper to start

then buy an interface that comes with a nice LE version of something like cubase or sonar
