gag ....... It doesn't have ANY of his requirements except loud ..... well, a passable clean.
But it's a solid state amp and sounds like a solid state amp.
The OP wants something with power scaling of some sort so he can drive the power tubes and get some power tube distortion. You can't get that outta the G.K. at all since it has no power tubes.

I've played thru one of those ..... neat little amp for what it is but lacking what the OP said he wants.
And there's a reason the one you have gets little use.
You've mentioned before some nice tube amps you have around. No one ever says, "Oh ..... let me use that G.K. instead" do they?

Thanks for all the replies guys. I have been strongly considering the V3M by carvin for a while and now am pretty interested in the 5150 III mini. Still unsure though. The Mesa micro seems pretty close and I could cope with 2 channels if I have 2, and it looks pretty sexy aswell hah. Still hard to decide though.

Gee, Bob, you are pretty pissy, lately, aren't you? :)

Okay, then! :D I'm of mixed emotions about it. OTOneH, I've gotten lots of use out of mine, as a grab-and-go amp, and I have seen others get lots of use- GK makes a very similar model that is basically a mini-PA/acoustic guitar amp that a trumpet player in New Orleans used for his French Market gig for years- I tried to find him to buy it, pre-Katrina, but had no luck. After Katrina, I didn't even try...

OTOtherH, it's not my favorite source of tone, but it works. These days, it usually just sits on the amp closet shelf, but does get pulled down and used occasionally. I'd sell it if I could, but it's small footprint on the shelf does not make that a big priority. One thing I'll never do with it again- loan it to a bass player. Had to recone the speakers after that, and of course I got no help from that jerk.

Has anyone mentioned the H&K Tubemeister? That's a little badass mofo.

having said that .... for ME it may be useful. PM me a price you'd be looking to get bearing in mind that I'm pretty poor these days.

Hey kids! What've you got for lunch today? I've got MEEETAL!

I forgot about those guys. They are two channels, too, right? GC doesn't stock those and I haven't really ventured outside of work to try one out, but I've read some good things about it. And they usually make pretty good stuff. I know Killswitch Engage uses H&K, so there's at least one metal endorser :p
