I'm using an Electroviice RE20 but I'm budding on eBay on an ATM 25 (not the Pro 25) to try it out as a different flavour

Started using the 421 on kick myself. It's pretty nice that's for sure.

Man this is an old thread
The MD421 is great mic... and yeah this is an old thread... lol.

Take my money - please (and ship me a RED5)

Yeah... this IS a good thread...

So - any news on getting the RED5 into the U.S. in a simple, affordable, safe, somewhat speedy and reliable way? Last time I checked, it was WAY more work than I'm prepared to put into getting one. So?....

How do you guys feel about the AUDIX D6? I am thinking about purchasing one.

Don't give it a second thought. You need the D6 for kick. I got one about a month ago. I can't believe how easy it is to get a good sound with this mic. Just point and hit record.

I can post a link to a recent track I'm doing with a very heavy band if you like.

Anyone have a sample mp3 posted somewhere in which they used a AT Pro-25 to mic the kick? AKG D112 samples? Beta 52? Thanks...

I have a PRO 25 I know it´s not the best under 200 bucks but it works for me and my budget.
Here is a song where I used the PRO25 on the kick.

Bye

Wow, that kick sounds sexy. I'm going to really consider purchasing one SOON.

And I'll tell ya, you can't make it sound bad. Anywhere I've placed it, it gives a useable sound. And it doesn't seem to be a 1 trick pony. Lot's of options. I smile everytime I listen to a track I've done with it.

Just for kicks (yes pun intended)
Here's a sample of the EV N/D 868

I sure love a slappy kick drum. It sounds good. Can't argue with it.

The snare can be a bit brighter in the mix. Other than that, it's excellent. Drummer is right on.

It sounds too muffled for my taste. I love a real beater/clicky style kick. The snare is night and crispy though.
