Ive been doin a lot of battles lately. Ive also had a lot of people droppin mics til they break. I wanted to know if any o yall have any dynamic mic's in mind that have good sound, they durable, only a little bit of bass, and under 100 dolla's.

thanks

Absolutely the mic with the most reputation for durability is the SM58.

Doing battles?

In a pinch, one of those Earthworks omni's could probably be used as a shiv (or maybe a Behringer ECM8000 if you're on a budget). For sheer bludgeoning power, I'd try a BLUE Bottle or maybe one of those Innertube Audio mag mic's. If you insist on using a dynamic mic, an AKG D112 on the end of a chain makes an effective morning star.

The SM 58 its the perfect mic for pretty much any live stage vocals. Plus even I havent broken one. I would suggest staying away from the condensers and sticking to a dynamic. So it would probably be your best shot. It is $99.99 at SamAsh.com or you can pick them up cheaper on ebay.

The other thing about SM58's is that there isn't anything that they really are unusable for.

Electro Voice 635a. They sound really good on guitar cabs, and they are built very solid. Some people say they are so strong, they can be used as hammers!

these are around $80, and can find them on ebay for $50.

what are battles?

from what i know of battles i'd rather take a sword or a gun than a microphone...you can probably pick up some used swords on ebay for under $100.

or get the sm57/58 i prefer the 57 (it sounds cooler and looks cooler), but the 58 is probably better suited for going to battle because it has the armor shield over the top.

Are you insane?!
An earthworks or blue mic for emcee battles...this has got to be a bad joke.

The Electrovoice RE-20 is a big heavy mic to go out in battle with.... you should be able to knock down your opponent with a couple of good hits.

Oh, don't forget to strangle him with the XLR cable and maybe use the mic stand as a spear.

Sorry, don't know how much dolla's that is o yall.

This is a no brainer the Behringer Ultravoice??

"This should bring out the hate mail".

Another good mic would be a Shure Unidyne "Elvis Mic." Those things are heavy and would wurt. The could also be attached to the end of a chain pretty easily!

Beez

Some of these responses have had me in tears of laughter, especially jslater, you have made my day man! I don't know what's funnier, the jokes or those that don't get em?

Anyway, on a serious note. I liked my Audio Technica MB1000 for MCing. It was loud and clear, but as for it withstanding a few drops etc, I can't say, as it was stolen - sorry 'borrowed' after only only use! It did feel very rugged though. They come up on ebay very cheap ($50ish).

On a not serious note. Try the SP B1 as it looks a little like a WW2 German Grenade!

What about a shot-gun (Riffle) mic! :)

Even if it jams, you could still have someones eye out with it!

Keith Richards was once approached by an engineer who had intended on asking Keith about his amp, but instead got caught up in a few cables and tripped right into Keith. Keith, the bloke he is, thought he was under attack and screamed "Wha...?! Why yew bastard *mumbling*!" and put a shiv in the engineer.

Those MCA SP1s are pretty heavy, and cheap, so would make a good heavy-ended cudgel if on the end of a stand.

Is it Rap?

Just tell them if they drop it they buy it. And quit working with assholes.

Best battle mic? if there are no rules, then hands down: Mic Tyson
