Besides a Mic, what do I need?

I am trying to record some stuff. about to purchase a SM7B.. I am wondering what other devices I should take into consideration for this mic to work at it's best. (pre-ams mixers)
please explain the devices the mic should go through before making it's way to the computer

A pre with plenty of gain.

You'll need a preamp and some sort of interface.

Excellent choice on the mic, BTW... Preamp-wise, it depends on your budget. There are three exceptional/inexpensive models out that I can think of right off the bat - True's P-Solo, Grace's m101 and FMR's RNP. FiveFishAudio makes a DIY unit that's pretty amazing also...

On the super-cheap route, M-Audio's DMP3 is probably the absolute cheapest reasonably decent unit out there.
