"dont listen to the haters"....in point of fact thats who you should be listening to because they are the ones who arent blowings rings of smoke up your arse......im not saying give up.....just take a look at whats going on ..re evaluate and grow from the experienece.....

when i play back some of my old stuff it makes me want to cry with laughter ...but its all part of the process.....

keep on going.....
You are a moron. This is obviously not a note-for-note attempt at duplicating the original. Therefore, it can be loosey-goosey and fun. There's no smoke blowing. Why is polite feedback and constructive criticism always considered "smoke blowing"? That's fucking stupid. So unless the critique is hateful and inflammatory, it's not worthy? I'll remember that if you ever post something that's even the tiniest bit less than commercial quality perfect. I know that I've personally ripped Queepy/variaxeman's stuff apart before, gave him honest feedback, and he seemed appreciative and used my modest opinions to try to improve his stuff. Queepy has posted dozens of songs - which seems to be about dozens more than you have. His stuff is always fun and catchy and interesting. This is no different. Is it technically perfect? Nope. Does it have to be? Nope. I'm probably the most closed-minded person on the planet, and I'm telling you to open your mind. That's how bad you suck right now. Idiot.

For me, home recording is a hobby, and a great way to share my love of music with other like minded people....I know posting it on the web leaves it open for criticism....both bad and good, and I don't have any problem with it at all....I have learned sooo much from the people on this and other forums its priceless....one thing I have never felt, is people are blowing smoke...I think usually, if a song has issues, they have been pointed out to me with helpful, suggestive tips or ideas....I guess what I'm trying to say is maybe there is a better way to critique something other then calling stuff
"horrendous...seriously....how can you play this and not know???? "
I'm not saying to sugarcoat everything...I guess it's just not the way I would raise a point about a failing of a song or recording somebody has posted... it might rub people the wrong way, and whats the point of that?....
I did think you had a valid point about the bass, and went back and recorded completely new bass tracks...almost evreybody who commented basically stated the same thing you did about vocals and bass, and gave tips or ideas on how to fix.....again, I just get really geeked to share stuff up here that I think people might dig like I do, and kinda post it before really cheking things out:o...I have no illusions about it being great...I just have fun and enjoy the feeling of community on this and other forums like this....
Sorry to ramble on , just get bummed about something for fun causing hard feelings....

Don't get bummed dude...it's all fun. People love to be haters when they don't get their way. I've also improved immensely from the advice given in the MP3 clinics. Some people think if your not being a dick about it, you're not giving good advice. Doesn't have to work that way.

Wait did you change the original link? this sound pretty good. i dont get why people said it was so bad

For the record, I'd like to clarify that my rants are directed solely towards zazz. If anyone else took offense, then I sincerely apologize. :)

"dont listen to the haters"....

Fuck you.

You are a moron.

LOL...:D

That was awesome...I love this thread.

Queepyaxeman, I think your feelings about this hobby and what this forum means to you are shared by many here...well put. The remix is an improvement. The bass is simpler and therefore the whole thing is a little tighter as a result.

I too, like Greg, wonder about how you record your vocals generally. It seems like no matter how you describe them (dry, drier, etc.) they always have something in common...a sort of distant, big-room sound...just curious.

hey greg.....just to clarify ...i didnt mean it wasnt a carbon copy ...im just saying it was out of tune and dint follow the melody ....thats why i said play em back to back.....to see if that could be sorted out.....

now to all you guys who genuinley love that track ...its ok..we all hear things in a different way..but its just my feeling that it was way off

and if thats the case for me ...i cant really move past that until its sorted...its pretty fundamental in my book.

...and i do think that certain people are overly kind....and i think that isnt helpfull if somone wants to get better..

i suppose now i will be subjected to another torrent of abuse....dont bother me one bit.

Consider for a moment that you're commenting on what is for many of us a long-term musical relationship that has developed over several years. As someone who, though a member for quite a while, has not been active in the clinc for long, it would be natural for you to be unaware of this. If you went back - not that it's feasible to do, time-wise - and looked at comments each of "us guys" have repeatedly made to each other in the past re things like intonation or "I hate fake drums" (two of my own pet peeves), you'd possibly get a good feel for why your comment above is, in the broader sense, inaccurate. Now that doesn't mean I'm saying you shouldn't mention that on any particular track a vocal is pitchy or that fake drums sound fake or whatever else. You should always say what you want. What I'm saying is that by the 5th or 6th tune you comment on by a particular person, and I'm not singling out queepy here, you'll probably stop repeating yourself about certain things that you notice repeatedly and focus on other things, given that you may appreciate someone's music even though it may have its quirks. All of our tracks have their quirks, I'm sure.

But it does follow the melody. I don't like Elton John one bit and I barely know this stupid song, but I could still tell what it is.

Fair enough, but being a cock about it just gets you slammed. Not that you probably care, but leaving comments like you did kills your credibility. Without credibility, why would anyone take you seriously? If you just wanna be an asshole, go down to the cave. The MP3 clinic is about getting feedback that's constructive. It can be negative feedback, and that's usually the best kind, but don't be an ass. You post no music and you go overboard with criticism. If I were just some noob strolling through and read that, I'd probably never post my music. Everyone's opinion matters; it's all in the delivery. To me, there's nothing wrong with what you said, it's just how you said it. I like queepy and he does some cool music. I'm naturally gonna defend him. I give him honest feedback too.

Neither is being a douche.

It should. I don't know why you'd want to be called a dumbfuck.

Wait till you guys here the new vocal track I'm doing for this:p!!!!!!!!!

This is what elton john would have written if he wasn't a pussy. :D

I still dig this song. The melody might not follow the original 100%, but I would have still known what it was without knowing the name. and when the "Bennie and the jets" vox come in, it tickles the memory... any time i ever hear the original, i will always think of this tune. :)

i acctually wondered about how to approach a critic of stuff in the mp3 clinic....

and what i said to myself was that i would be honest and say the first thing that came into my head...because thats true to me....and if i had second thoughts i might go back and edit the statement

i didnt think ...im gonna hurt the guys feelings...ect ect

so honestly ....when i said what i said...i really did think that..

so there you go.....its a statment from my point of view

i dont know if you guys notice the word forum ...maybe you should look it up sometime and stay true to that .

Is there anything else we should do??

First, you walk in here like a 2 year old, crying to Mommy because somebody didnt write YOUR name in a thread. Then, YOU break the rules of this "forum" by posting a nonmusic thread about how your lil baby feelings get hurt if someone doesnt write a novel about your greatness for listening. Now, you again are trying to order us around.

Get over yourself already. We've been doing pretty good without ya these past 9 years, really. Get a life and stop being a lil baby. Grow up.

well i was commenting about this cover ...... and now im just answering the comments from the fall out of that...... but feel free to rant...its a free country.

I really loved this track! The second version with improved bass is awsome. This comeing from a guy who bought the 8-track of the original. Dude you rock!
