The other day i brought a behringer Xenyx compact mixer . I brought it just as an emergency back up mixer and left it on the shelf for a few weeks.

I tried it out today for the first time with my RCF 322a.
At first I was expecting it to be quite noisy and hardly any headroom.

I must admit I was pleasently suprised of the Xenyx mic pre's, I could'nt believe the clarity and the clean sound and punch from such a small mixer.

Years ago i use to have a Behringer UB Euro 802 which was quite noisey (sorry I can't spell).

I know on this forum there is lots of mixed views with the behringer gear.

But the 802 to me is a winner.

Finally.........a good review of a behringer mixer!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks Mr. Blues!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just bought a Behringer Xenyx 1832 fx. I bought it because of the price/inputs/outputs. Its nice to hear a good review!!!!!!!!!

My hats off to you!!!!!!

How have you found your unit Kieth.

its strange but i find the 802 much better sounding then the Behringer 1204FX it could be that the 1204fx was inconstitant. Obviously the 1204 has more features but I found the 802 to have more headroom.

Hey Mr. Blues!!!!! Well im deployed until the middle of may.......so the mixer is just setting at my house until i get back. I just bought sonar 7xl.........and eventually i am going to buy a sm57 mic/ a decent preamp/ a DI/ Compressor, gate, limiter all in one kinda deal, and last but not least a good AD DA converter. I have 4 speaker monitors right now and just wanted a mixer so i could patch everything together and send the signal to Sonar/ listen to the mixes i am recording on my monitors. Plus i just really like analog mixers!!!!!! I was recording with a Fast track usb and a Producer usb mic. before i bought the mixer. Im pretty sure the tape out buisness on the mixer isnt going to sound the best......... but i will have to deal with it until i can afford a good AD DA converter. The guitars were pretty electronic with the M-audio fast track setup, but the mic was actually a pretty good deal for how cheap it was!!!!!!!

I think you are epxeriencing what many others experience with Behringer . . . inconsistency in manufacturing quality. Behringer is a good budget brand, with some solid ideas and some amazing products, and great value for money. But I have found, and I'm not alone, that quality is inconsistent. Some devices just go forever, others are a bit patchy in performance.
