behringer products may become scarce in australia for a while...

apparently, behringer has pulled out of there old distribution deal with music link (this i know is true because there is no mention of behringer on the distributers site), and is going to be doing there own distribution in australia as of july, so at the moment it seems there is no wholesale distributer for beh gear in aus....

what this means.... hopefully another price drop (especially on those ecm800s $100usd over here at the mo)

My supplier told me that Behringer had "sacked" MusicLink a couple of weeks ago, but didn't say for what reason. They said that Behringer was going to go "direct" intead of through a distributor. You've gotta hope that the prices will come down, wouldn't ya? China-to-Australia is about the same distance from China-to-USA.

In the interim, I got a couple of EMC8000's at $60usd each - better than $100 but not as good as $35! Prices might come down, but I don't think I'll be buying much Behringer stuff anyway. Still, it might shake up the competition.

WOOOOOOFarkin'HOOOOOOOOOO................

I can't say that I'm to blame, but months ago when Behringer announced their "up to 50%" price drop, and the ensuing popularity of the ECM8000's, I emailed Behringer, after of course being basically told by MusicLink to "Fark Off" on a couple of occasions, and suggested that they find a new Aust., distributor and explained in detail why. They never replied but it appears they may have actually read my email after all.

Ah well...........what goes around, comes around.

rathpy: i'm just worried behringer are doing this to cut the middle man and keep more of the profit... but i think as far as pricing goes, they are one of the few slightly honest companies out there..

i kinow where your coming from there ausrock, musiclink always responded to my emails.....until i asked about th ecm8000's....and

Interesting thing is that Behringers website no longer lists Musiclink as the Aust., distributor.......al that is there is an email addy; m.jago@behringer.com.au.

One can only hope and pray that there is no connection to Musiclink in this "new" distributor setup and that Aust., pricing will become relative to the Euro and $US, not some inflated figure out of balance with the rest of the world.

has anyone seen the new behri aussie prices? ecm8000's are about $90 now modulizers come down to $200 mixers are even cheaper, truths are around $1000, i read today that music link used to have $3million turnover just on behringer bringing a $900k/annum profit, all gone now, interesting article in "connections" april edition..... jsut though i'd resurect this thread after these recent developments... oh yeah my suplier said there were really good discounts for bulk purchases, so if you know a few muso's who need some geari'd gang up on your supplier for some good discounts......

btw; any americans or otherwise thinking "this guys a nut case" the prices are all in aussie dollars mate

Doc, I have the whole new price list in front of me at the moment.

Personally, I'm not a great Behringer fan, but I must give them credit for pulling the plug on MusicLink who were ripping off the consumers and on that basis will seriously consider buying at least a pair of ECM8000s.

FYI, pricing on a few things is as follows;

Modulizer Pro...$249
Truth Monitors..$1199 (pair)
B2 mic..............$599

Unfortunately, I don't have a list of the old pricing available to compare all items, but at least it appears to give Australian Behringer users prices that now are comparable to those in the US.

double the price of lets say a composer pro at 99usd 198 aus add 10% plus maybe 40 bucks aussie for postage and this dam unit should really be around the 250 dollar mark here but when you see the inflated prices here it then shows you why many argue with retailers etc we pay too dam much for our music gear here in Australia.

What id say is hold out on your purchases when they get desperate we will get the prices we want i know i already have secured us or below us price on near all ive bought so far

Yes i had a look at musiclabs price thats alot closer to the mark for a composer pro next time you phone the guy ask how he gets his stock you will then know how he sells to you as he does
