Goes both ways. If I constantly have to keep an eye out to make sure the spaz rhythm guitarist doesn't ram into me after tripping over his pedalboard, and carve furrows into a $2000 guitar, I will be far more distracted than if I would be by the difference in a decent amp and a great amp. Onstage, I can't hear squat from the other side, or I can turn down until I can't hear myself (he runs a NMV Twin,, which starts at "way too loud," and goes up from there). Again, a far tougher compromise. Hell, if I can con his impoverished ass into using the Crate, it will be an improvement. He like how it sounds now, so I have a fighting chance...
