true, but YOU do and so it can affect how you play.

Goes both ways. If I constantly have to keep an eye out to make sure the spaz rhythm guitarist doesn't ram into me after tripping over his pedalboard, and carve furrows into a $2000 guitar, I will be far more distracted than if I would be by the difference in a decent amp and a great amp. Onstage, I can't hear squat from the other side, or I can turn down until I can't hear myself (he runs a NMV Twin,, which starts at "way too loud," and goes up from there). Again, a far tougher compromise. Hell, if I can con his impoverished ass into using the Crate, it will be an improvement. He like how it sounds now, so I have a fighting chance...

First I would tell you to quit shopping at Guitar Satan for amps.
Secondly, listen to all of the music that you really love and ask yourself if you
can duplicate it live with an EVJ or a BH or whatever the POS du jour is @ GS.
Third, play live, it is the only true test of how good gear is.It's also the only
true test of how good you are.
Fourth, fuck off junior, I had strings under my fingers before your mom was under your pop.

You didn't answer my question, grump. What if it was exactly what I was looking for. No scenarios required, just your answer.

I would think with sooooooooooooo many years under your dusty belt, you'd atleast side with being satisfied with finding what you were looking for and not fault anyone else should that be their case. I'd even venture so far as to wage a small bet that at one point or another you've rolled your eyes at someone who scoffed at a purchase you've made.

...and just so we're clear on this, Mr. Personality. I do own a EVJ, it's not my gigging amp, it's not my main, it's not even my 3rd or 4th go to, but I like it for what I've used it for and that, my friend, is worth more than any opinion you'll ever form.

Fair enough my creamy compadre. My answer to that would be that if you like
it, by all means use it.I've rolled my own eyes at purchases I've made.
I'm not trying to say that folks cant make good music on cheap gear, only that they would be inspired to make better music if they didnt let impulses
get the better of them when it came to shopping for gear.(because they would end up with better gear)
It always has struck me strange how peeps will say that it is not the amp or guitar it is the player, yet when I talk to other pros in my trade or any other we are in full agreement that a tradesman is is only as good as his tools.
I'm not trying to compare high$$ amps to low $$ amps, just making the point
that when you get thru purchasing 20 to 30 shit amps in a lifetime, you could
have owned 4 or 5 really great ones.
BTW, I'm fairly certain that that belt dust came from your ole lady's ashy lips.
Kiss her good nite for me.
