I'm actually considering selling my re-tubed VJ Combo for the half-stack.

It would be nice to have more adjustment options.

it looks to me more or less like a variation on the VJ, only in black and with some extra junk (aka EQ) in the circuit. be curious to hear how it sounds in comparison, though. my VJ's been excellent since i put some JJs in it.

You obviously haven't heard their Palamino stuff. Their boutique'ish tube amps actually sound really really good.

Yep, them Crate V-series are nice little amps... killer tone for the money.

I'll have to do a bit more research, but the Blackheart is looking more and more like my next gear purchase.

This sounds like a new manufacturing trend - cheap 5wt tube amps! Let the price games begin! I think I'll pull a "priceline" on them and say that I'll wait for a $50 combo version with spring reverb, FX loop and 2 channels and included footswitch

I am not one for bashing amps...but i might have to agree here. I still have yet to try out the valve jr. The name gets tossed around so much here, but i'd like to see someone compare them side by side.
