Be careful updating HD24 software

Well, I took this as unless you backup data, save it, then transfer it back to hard drive formatted with newer software it would be unusable. Someone straighten me out on this of I'm goofy. All in all I just wanted to let people be aware. I'd hate for someone to loose data, or sit and pull out there hair over a project being lost.

It's definitely a good idea to make sure you have a solid backup before engaging in a process that is going to restructure your disk drive - regardless of whether you're talking about the HD24, Windows, or any other platform. But on the HD24 discussion group there are several reports of people, myself included, who performed the upgrade without losing any data at all. And I've seen no one, except possibly yourself, who has claimed that the upgrade has caused them any loss of data.

The upgrade is designed to keep your data intact. But that's not to say that there is no risk at all. If the data is important to you, by all means protect it carefully. Even in a well-designed system, something still might go wrong.
