I just finished recording another band this afternoon and I got a really really nice sound for the bass drum but when it's with everything else... ther ejust sin't enough attack. Is there any suggestions on how to make it stand out more?? It's not non existent but it's pretty close

Yeah. I'd go with some EQ sculpting or compression for something like this.

Don't use too much of a broad Q in the upper frequencies though, it can tend to lead to muddiness in the upper mids, and that can sound brashy. Find a nice sweet spot and do a notch or little bigger.

I also read an idea in Recording Mag about lowering some of the absolute lows and boosting around 80khz, and then cut around 250-350 to kind of open it up and eleviate some of the muddiness there. That can add some punch, which can make the attack more pronounced.

type "kick EQ" into the search option and all your problems will be corrected... and if their not, give me negative rep!!!
