Hey,

I'm Backkk!!

Haven't been here in a while but cool as ever.. and im as curious as ever... :)

Ok, Well Finally I'm Moving!!!
Into a space I can put my basement studio...

Here is what the basement Looks like..
untitled8gc.png

It's descent area... When you walk down the stairs you run into a furnace..

All the walls are concrete...
The Floor is poured concrete..

I havent been able to get in to get some measurements..
There is one area where the washer and dryer is... that I cant use.

But the rest is mine...

I am looking to record whole bands.. (Drums, Bass, Guitar, Guitar, Vocals x 3)
or some horns too...

What should I do to make it sound acoustically right...
I'm 15 soo budget is low...
I got most of the equipment I need for now.. I am currently running a Boss BR-864 but am going to get a BR-1600CD...

Should I build booths for drums and vocals...
I am willing to build walls.. but the whole right side...(on the side of the stairs... there is going to be a stage for live shows...(my dad is cool with that too..) I also will be living down in the basement.. but i'll sleep on the floor if it takes that to get my studio... proab just a futon for sleeping too..

Thanks For The Help..

If you have any questions about my space.. let me know..

Thanks,

When you walk down the stairs you run into a furnace..

Begin by not running into the furnace.
This may not seem important now, but it really is.

Ha thanks..

I forgot to mention "The throne" in the basement.. ha ha ha
even with the stairs past the furnace.. there is a toilet.. and its litereally as throne the thing is up like 2-3 feet in the air... didntr mention it, beacuse it is not staying.. or will be come my mix station.. ha ha ha(no its going)

On a limited budget, you can't do a ton, so you're looking at portable treatments.

Check out the diy units on www.johnlsayers.com

when you get some dimensions i'll sketch out a rough plan if you like.

Cheers

I'm not sure of the scale, but here's an idea I had.......maybe someone else can improve upon it.

Hahaha, good idea Thane, but dude's 15.......on a limited budget.

Yeh,

I make about $400 a month.. but all of it goes into my studio.. and my dad will throw in some money...

Here is some demensions that i think are about right...

when looking at the front of the house...

The House is about 37 wide and 25 deep, and 29 deep with the added room..
Laundry space(off limits) is about 13x10
on the other side of the stairs it is about the same but 13x11 there is no walls besides the outer walls..
Closet is 5x4(Can be Knocked out or used as storage..

The Furnace is about 5 feet from the stairs... and is 4 feet wide (this way --) and about 7-8" long (This way | )

What do I need to put on the floor, and the cealing?
What about on the concrete walls..

I can do this in steps and wold like to have atlease one room done for now(a vocal/amp/drum/brass room)
For the control room, ill proab just work with headphones, and go other places to test how it sounds through speakers...

Thanks,
Ethan

Its a descent amount of room for me.. but I dont know what to do with it..

Keep the throne, makes for shorter trip to it and adds an extra mode of reverb! :D

Are you shure that's not CAMODE of reverb?!?!?! :p ;) :D :)

Hey

I screwed up the first picture.. here is what it looks like..

its about 37' by 25'

The left side is 29'

I dont know if it is impossible to do this but...

I want my recording studio to beable to turn into a live venue.. where i can have bands play./.

stage would be on the side of the stairs..

i would be in the back doing sound...

is it impossible to make it sound good and have it transfer into a venue..

is there a way to make temporary walls... that could bolt into the concrete floor and sound acoustically good..

good not even greatr this is just a project.. to get some demos done for local bands...
