OK I have been meaning to get this uploaded and finally it is. Here are a couple examples of B-1's as overheads.
1. This one is rock with open hi-hats, toms, and some fills.
2. This one is more rock ballad style with ride, stick shots, toms, etc.
The mic setup is as follows:
-2 B-1's spaced one over the floor tom and one over the snare with the diaphram parallel to the head and high enough not to be hit by the drummer (me)
-1 Peavey 520i on kick in about 3 inches with hole in head
-1 U87 out front to pick up kick and toms about 3 feet out 6 inches or so off the floor
-1 Sennheiser 441 on snare
I hope this helps. I am pretty damn happy with this drum sound and it was fairly east to achieve. Just don't forget to flip the phase on the out front kick mic or the toms will sound like butt. I think this is a fairly natural but powerful drum sound that will work well when we get all the rest of the tracks cut.
