Avid buys out M-Audio

what!!!??

woah.... this may not be cool at all...

what does ths mean exactly:
Under the terms of the agreement, M-Audio will become a business unit of Avid’s Digidesign audio division and market its line of computer audio peripherals, PCI sound cards, keyboard controllers and control surfaces, microphones, speakers, and distributed software and proprietary sound libraries alongside Digidesign’s award-winning digital audio workstations for the professional and home/hobbyist markets.

does this mean that m-audio gear will still be available but just under the avid/digidesign/protools name? hmm i wonder if m-audio wil suddenly suport more of the pro-tools line up

most likely,

I doubt they will start selling m-audio gear @ current Pro Tools prices because the m-audio converters are simply not as good as the HD converters, i think the 001 and 002 have an edge over them as well
